Willie Nelson

Hot on the heels of B.B. King’s show at the Gallivan Center comes another living legend that is a must-see at some point in every music fan’s life. You don’t think that’s true? Consider that Willie is the man behind classic tunes like “Crazy” (made famous by Patsy Cline), “On the Road Again” and “Whiskey River,” his regular show-starter. He’s also a consummate performer in many ways; not only does he knock out dozens of tunes in a typical performance, but his jittery picking on his guitar named Trigger makes every show different from the last, even when the set lists remain the same. He’s also a one-man American music history lesson, thanks to his takes of songs ranging from Ray Charles to Hank Williams to The Carter Family. And if you haven’t heard, Willie parties harder than you; his most recent pot bust in the fall of 2010 yielded six ounces of weed. Which in Willie measurements is probably about a week’s stash. Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main, 7 p.m., $35 advance/$40 day of show
