Log Haven "Dinner & a Movie": Chocolat

You can always take a date-night basic like dinner and a movie and kick up the class a little. That’s what Log Haven has planned this week. The “movie” part is Chocolat, director Lasse Hallström’s 2000 romantic comedy-drama starring Juliette Binoche as a single mother whose opening of a chocolate shop—during Lent, no less—stirs up feelings in a conservative rural French village circa 1960. Johnny Depp co-stars as one of the river drifters whose arrival further twists the knickers of the locals.

The “dinner” part involves a fixed-price buffet of seasonal French country food. Among the offerings are chicken with tarragon, lemon and white wine; Anna potatoes; and local greens with champagne vinaigrette. After dinner, migrate to the amphitheater for dessert and the feature presentation. The cost of the evening includes gratuity, plus a 15 percent donation to Slow Food Utah. (Scott Renshaw)
