Ghostland Observatory, Phantogram

This just might be the most interesting booking choice of this summer’s Twilight Concert Series, and I’m betting this double-bill will generate a lot of new fans for both bands. In Ghostland Observatory, you have an Austin-based dance-rock duo that combines stuttering beats and sparse soundscapes with a psychedelic bent that incorporates some of the duo’s country and blues hometown influences. Ghostland’s live reputation is that of a great concert experience. Opening up is the synth-pop duo Phantogram, who record in an upstate New York barn full of samplers, percussion instruments and assorted synthesizers that they used to create the excellent 2010 release Eyelid Movies. Pioneer Park, 350 W. 300 South, 7 p.m., free
