The world needed an audio Quaalude to dull its epidemic malaise, and ABBA filled the bill. Producing one chart-topping hit after another, they became the most successful act ever to emerge from the Eurovision Song Contest. But there was trouble in paradise, and soon after the divorces—Agnetha and Björn in ‘79; Frida and Benny in ‘81—the band split (airrevocably, according to its members).
But now that malaise has made a big comeback on the world stage, who’s to say a reunion tour is still out of the question? Until that day comes, there is Arrival. Billed as “the only group who has the exclusive right to copy ABBA’s original outfits,” the tribute band could be the next best thing. (Brandon Burt)
