Grace Potter & The Nocturnals might still be known as a New England band with roots in the jam-band community, but they are quickly establishing themselves as a genre-defying group worth watching. All reports from their winter show at The Depot indicated they delivered a genuinely rockin’ set, but lead singer Potter has also delved into Disneyfied pop songcraft (on the Tangled soundtrack), and this summer she’ll share a Hollywood Bowl stage with Stevie Wonder, Sharon Jones and Janelle Monae for a “Global Soul” event. Between rocking out with her band and getting all souled-out with Stevie, Potter is appearing on some dates with mainstream country hunk Kenny Chesney. Clearly, Potter’s musical ambition knows no bounds. Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main, 7 p.m., $20 advance/$25 day of show
