Chuck Mead of BR549

The folks who packed Red Butte Garden for Willie Nelson last fall might recall, through the haze of pre-Willie whiskey, that Chuck Mead opened the show with a stellar set of old school honky-tonk. That’s so surprise to long-time fans of Mead’s band, BR549, a Nashville institution and purveyors of the some of the finest traditional country made in the past decade or so. Solo Mead isn’t much different than BR549—you’ll hear some of the band’s best along with tracks from Mead’s winning solo debut, Journeyman’s Wager. Ugly Valley Boys open the show. The State Room, 638 S. State, 9 p.m., $14
