Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival

Since its inception back in 1976, the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation has sponsored nearly 30 world-class piano competitions and 22 international piano festivals. This summer, it adds one more to that tally by inviting a trio of internationally recognized pianists to Salt Lake City for a three-day event. Each day will feature a different pianist offering a public master class for young aspiring pianists before the featured guest artist takes the stage for an evening concert.

Opening the festival, Leonel Morales from Spain will focus on “Musical Moments,” like Rachmaninoff’s piece by the same name and Stravinsky’s “Petrouchka.” On Friday, Paola Bruni of Italy will tackle “Romantic Virtuosity,” like Chopin’s “Scherzo” and Liszt’s Etudes. Wrapping up the festivities will be America’s own Logan Skelton and his performance “Orchestral Grandeur,” with pieces such as Bartók’s “Mikrokosmos” and Liszt’s Grand Sonata in B Minor.
