It’s a bit of change for a man probably best known for his role in the cult comedy Half Baked. “The timing was phenomenal,” he says of the film. “It really put me on the map. But the weird thing is people think I’m that guy, so that was hard to shake off. At the same time I’m flattered because that means I knocked it out of the park.”
His move toward family-centric comedy—”There’s no vulgarity,” he notes, “although you leave thinking, ‘Huh, did he curse?’ ”—seems to be working, as he has noticed multiple generations turning up at his shows. He adds that a beneficial byproduct of his show is that he can help folks with their parenting and relationship skills. “I think I’m going to save a lot of marriages. It will be cheaper to see me than to see a therapist.” (P.F. Wilson)
