Richmond Fontaine

This Portland band led by singer/songwriter Willy Vlautin continues to be criminally overlooked by American audiences more than a decade into its career. Not so in England, where the band’s country-rock tales of downtrodden anti-heroes and life between America’s blue highways regularly garner rave reviews by magazines like Uncut and MOJO. The band’s most recent album, We Used to Think the Freeway Sounded Like a River, is another in a long line of consistently great releases, and they’re teeing up a new one, The High Country, for release this fall. If you’ve yet to heard one of America’s great songwriters, now is your chance to fix that. The Brothers Comatose and Erik The Red open the show. The State Room, 638 S. State, 9 p.m., $14
