loveDANCEmore: dance-dance

If, while perusing the Sundance-week smorgasbord, you seek something off the beaten path (and without lines), look to dance-dance at The Hive Gallery. This dancecinema extravaganza is the latest, most intricate, excursion from local choreographer Ashley Anderson’s loveDANCEmore.

The gallery exhibition features plentiful projectors, televisions and art-meets-media installations divided into several stations equipped with headphones. Each station loops several of the 25 total dance films. Representing local, national and international artists, the shorts cover a broad spectrum—in scope, from point-and-shoot choreographed pieces to experimentations using cinematography’s tools to their advantage, and in genre, from modern dance to ballet.

Step back and see the gallery brought to life, with simultaneous films interacting with each other. Step in, and let each work speak for itself. (Austen Diamond)
