Copper Palate Presents John Andrews

You have probably noticed the presence of Copper Palate printmaking collective if you attended Poor Yorick’s twice yearly studio open house—in the hallway printing like mad, adding designs to T-shirts, bags or just about anything constructed of fabric. Copper Palate hosts a show by its own charter member John Andrews, recent graduate in printmaking at the University of Utah, showing his talents at textiles, fine art prints, books and more. It’s a street-smart yet artsy aesthetic—wearable as well as hangable.

For the musical counterpart of the evening, Electric Space Jihad is made up of longtime local Davey Parish DJ and whatever other musical devices might come to mind, cohorts included. Each of the tripartite band’s names is fitting, but one might also note a heavy rhythmic element that’s otherworldly. Copper Palate can be found in the alley behind the Guthrie Building, the structure that decades ago was known to local scenesters as underground music venue The Moroccan. (Brian Staker)
