From June 18-20, 51 filmmaking teams spent a frantic weekend putting together a short film—writing, casting, shooting and editing—on the fly.
Launched in Washington D.C. in 2001, the 48 Hour Film Project has grown to sponsor similar competitions in more than 50 U.S. cities, with more than 150,000 participants during the past decade. On Friday night, teams receive four elements from organizers— a genre, a character, a prop and a line of dialogue—that must be included in the finished film on Sunday. The results are sometimes funny, sometimes serious, sometimes creepy, but always more accomplished than the tight schedule would suggest.
The “Best Of” screening event will include a reception for filmmakers, and announcement of the 2010 awards. See what’s possible on a big screen with only 48 hours, plenty of coffee and a lot of imagination.
