AEA Locals Gather and Look to Celebrate 100th Anniversary

On April 23 of this year, members of the Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) living in Salt Lake City met for a first time. The gathering, initiated by Nell Gwynn and Darrin Doman, occurred through local professional actors being sought out via social media. Hosting the event was Salt Lake Acting Company; one of the two theaters in Salt Lake City that offer fully benefited contracts for professional actors. The meeting was a step forward toward mobilizing the AEA community, raising awareness and organizing the local community of professional actors. While the introduction was monumental for the actors, the total AEA community will also be celebrating its 100th anniversary on May 26 of this year. AEA is the union for professional actors and stage managers in the United States. The association was founded by 112 professional actors and currently represents of 49,000 and stage managers throughout the country.
