Jessica Day George: Wednesdays in the Tower

In her 2012 novel for middle-grade readers, Tuesdays at the Castle, Utah author Jessica Day George introduced Castle Glower—the mysterious manor that, once a week, engages in some magical re-decorating by adding, subtracting or relocating entire rooms—and the young princess, Celie, who tries to map all these changes. But after helping stop a plot against the kingdom, Celie faces a brand-new challenge in Castle Glower’s architectural whimsy. Wednesdays in the Tower brings Celie to another new room in Castle Glower: a roofless tower room that nobody else can find, which contains a huge, hot orange sphere that appears to be an egg. Will it be a dragon? A roc? Or is it perhaps another kind of creature entirely, one that will become Celie’s personal responsibility as more of the castle’s secrets challenge Celie and the rest of the royal family? (Scott Renshaw)
