Still, when Salt Lake City’s Live Green festival started 10 years ago, it was a rather small affair, with somewhat fringe participation. Now, the annual event has become a stalwart of Salt Lake City’s festival calendar, offering far more than sustainable products and eco-friendly causes begging you to add your name to another petition or two.
But, if you do want to find a new cause to get behind, there will surely be some on hand, along with plenty of green goods (especially building services and home products). But with the 10th anniversary of the festival, the organizers%u2028expanded to include three stages filled with music, several live auctions and an Eco Chic Fashion Show. All that, plus cooking demonstrations by main sponsor Lundberg Family Farms; a food pavilion packed with healthy, locally sourced eats; and plenty of face painting and activities to keep the little ones entertained.
One of the best sources for renewable energy will also be hard at work providing free power to a couple of worthy causes. A solar-powered DJ booth will be delivering dance beats to keep your feet moving all afternoon, while Uinta Brewing’s solar-powered beer garden will keep your beverage cold with natural light. A stalwart in the local eco-friendly business community, Uinta creates all of its delicious craft beer using 100 percent renewable energy sources. (Jacob Stringer)
