CWMA Showcase: The Woodshed

Salt Lake City Weekly is proud to support Utah's thriving music scene with the 2013 City Weekly Music Awards!

The contemporary doo-wop folk of Bullets & Belles—a three-piece that specializes in swoon-worthy two-girl-one-boy harmonies—was captured in the 2013 LP debut, Be Glad. And their whimsy and grace was fully brought to life at the release show with redheaded twin backup singers and a full band—a bit of unique pop perfection. There is really nothing like Juana Ghani, either. The 11-member “underground gypsy cabaret” includes belly dancers, a magician and pole dancers to accompany the band’s signature poppy-polka sound, which can be heard on the 2012 release Shall We Live Forever. Color Animal played its first show May 2012 and has already dropped a mini-album (albumette?), Vision Lies, of seven clever, earwormy garage-rock songs. $5
