The 3rd annual SlutWalk takes place at Salt Lake City’s City Hall. The event will kick off at 1:00 p.m. with poster-making and talks given by community members about local rape culture and the justice process. Afterwards, participants march in solidarity past the new and old police stations, the District Attorney’s office and the Court House to symbolize the process some rape survivors go through when they choose to file a report. The event will wrap up with an open mic and speech by Shawndell Hoyt.
SlutWalk is an event designed to challenge victim blaming, debunk rape myths, end rape culture and empower sexual assault survivors. The event is free and open to the public, but keep in mind that frank and open conversations about sexual violence will take place.
