Oedipus the King Auditions

Westminster College holds open auditions for the Classical Greek Theatre Festival’s Production of “Oedipus the King” by Sophocles, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Dumke Student Theatre in the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory. Regarded by many as one of the finest Greek tragedies, Oedipus the King is a classic murder mystery. Oedipus, King of Thebes, must solve the murder of the former king, Laius, in order to lift the plague ravaging Thebes. The play is a tale of conspiracy, murder and prophecy.

On Monday, April 8th performers are asked to prepare 16 bars of any a cappella song, a monologue of their choice from a Greek play that is no longer than 2 minutes, as well as participate in a group singing and movement sessions. Call backs, by invitation only, will be held on Tuesday, April 9th. Performers should bring a current photo, resume, references for theatre work and movement clothing.
