Explore the Navajo Mountain area with Dine guides Eric and Charlene Atene along with Canyonlands Field Institute Founder and Executive Director Karla Vander Zanden. The trip will feature daily exploratory hikes from a truck-supported base camp with a focus on the traditional Dine way of life. For three nights and four days starting on Tuesday, April 30, the participants will visit Dine families, view past rock art on canyon walls as well as ruins of past dwellings, hike the ancient landscape and learn the stories and traditions of Dine culture. The trip will also go in-depth on the area's geology and ecology.
