Brothers Comatose

“The Morrison house was a gathering place for local musicians,” says Gio Benedetti, Brothers Comatose bassist, talking about the childhood home of bandleaders Ben Morrison and Alex Morrison. “Everyone would bring an instrument, call out tunes, call out changes and just play for hours.” The kids grew up and added a few more folks to the fold, but kept that living-room sentimentality in their live bluegrass shows. They hand out chopsticks for audience percussion participation, lead them to clap, stomp and sing along, and are wont to end shows by winding up in the middle of the dance floor. The Bay area band can bang hard on their stringed instruments but can also slow it down for a sweet ballad, too. $5
