Trinity AME Founders Day

Bishop Richard Allen founded the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the City of Philadelphia in 1794. This organization played a large role in the education and emancipation of black people. Additionally, the church has established seven institutions of higher learning throughout the country. With the support of Kitty Prouse and the leadership of Reverend Sunders, Trinity A.M.E. was founded in Salt Lake City in 1883. To observe the spirit of Founder’s Day as well as honor Black History, choirs, clergy, and congregations from around the city will join Trinity to celebrate. The public is invited to participate.
