Big Movie Mouth-Off Oscars Extravaganza

The Oscars are this Sunday, and two things are already certain: It will be two hours longer than it needs to be, and you’ll dislike a lot of the choices, to the point where you’ll be yelling at the screen.

So, if you’re going to suffer through the entire fiasco, you might as well do it somewhere with beer and friends. In that spirit, Big Movie Mouth-Off hosts Jeff Vice and Jimmy Martin will be taking over Brewvies Cinema Pub for BMMO’s third-annual Oscars Extravaganza, starting at 3 p.m. The festivities will begin with the film they believe should have won 2012’s Best Picture award: Drive.

Once the film is done, they’ll clear out the theater for first-come, first-served seating for the red carpet, starting at 5 p.m., leading into the 85th Academy Awards showcase, all with microphone commentary from Vice and Martin. Attendees will be given Oscar ballots so they can predict who will win the major awards of the night, and the evening will also include prizes and giveaways for attendees and the pleasure of booing your most-hated winner.

The entire evening is free (except the food and booze—please tip the Brewvies staff well). Since it is an awards show, all who attend are being encouraged to dress up for the occasion—or at least in something fancy you don’t mind spilling beer and sauce on. (Gavin Sheehan)
