Yonder Mountain String Band, The Deadly Gentlemen

Bassist Ben Kaufmann’s favorite animal in the children’s book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is the Blue Horse (he doesn’t “much care for” the Black Dog or The Teacher), he said in “Baby Tips from Ben” on Yonder Mountain String Band’s YouTube channel. Oh, the joys of being a rock-star dad. The four-piece progressive-bluegrass band from Nederland, Colo., has certainly grown up over their 13 years of jamming, but during it all, they’ve kept their child-like zest for playing. And since they’ve been rearing children, it seems like their live sets have become even more gleeful. The band talked with City Weekly about kids, baby food, dubstep and more for another installment of the blog Beside the Question at CityWeekly.net. The Deadly Gentlemen opens the show. $20 in advance, $25 day of show
