Toro Y Moi, Sinkane, Dog Bite

When you read an interview transcript with Chaz Bundick (Toro Y Moi), you get a sense that the laid-back 26-year-old is plagued with his generation’s dilemma of not knowing what he/they wants to be—and can never be satisfied. “I want music to be a hobby for me, but it’s a job now,” he told Pitchfork, “so I’m going with the flow—I only consider myself a musician because a label puts out my music.” He says that maybe he wants to go back and get a master’s degree in graphic design, but who knows. The South Carolina native can’t even be contained to a genre. He progressed from “chillwave” to dabble in myriad sonic forms—from smooth pop to glitchy hip-hop—and he says that he even wants to go back to his indie-rock roots for his next, and fourth, record. But for now, he’s touring in support of his third LP, Anything In Return, the producer/songwriter’s finest, most fully formed effort to date. Sinkane and Dog Bite are also on the bill.
