Night Beds, Creature Double Feature

Night Beds is the name of 23-year-old Winston Yellen’s musical project. Yellen has had an interesting five years: He dropped out of college, self-released three DIY EPs and lived out of his hatchback (his “night bed” was in the backseat) bouncing from state to state working menial jobs. Then, Yellen moved back to Nashville, Tenn., took out a loan and rented a pre-Civil War house in the woods that he found on Craigslist—coincidentally, it was previously owned by Johnny Cash and June Carter. There was good country mojo inside those walls, and Yellen’s debut, Country Sleep (Dead Oceans), is a perfect introduction—lovely and beguiling—to this artist on the rise. Creature Double Feature opens the show.
