Benefit Party for U.S. Tar Sands? Film Production

Salt Lake City DJ Anthony Motto (aka EYEAM) is hosting “A Night for Gaia” to raise funds for the production of the documentary, U.S. Tar Sands?. The filmmaker, Jennifer Ekstrom, will be shooting footage on-site. The trailer for the film will be screened for the first time at the event. In addition to addressing the potential to strip mine for Tar Sands in Utah and the likely consequences of doing so, U.S. Tar Sands? will examine to what extent this development would assist the United States in its quest for energy independence. The filmmaker utilizes musicians as messengers in order to gain the interest of broad and diverse audiences.

Musicians will include The Saintanne, Anthony Motto, 8 BIT, Jpan Sato, and more. Performers will include Sketch Cabaret!, Aeiral hoop by Mandi Johnson, belly dancing by Kelly Brown, and Trish McBride and the Lunar Collective. In addition, there will be a silent auction featuring the works of top local artists and artisans. Light food and refreshments will be provided.
