Utah Jazz vs. Miami Heat

As much as individual markets may love their individual teams, the NBA is a “name on the back of the jersey” league much more than it’s a “name on the front of the jersey” league. Ever since the pro-basketball renaissance was launched by Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in the early 1980s, stars have driven fan interest much more than teams.

So, when the Miami Heat make their one-and-only annual visit to EnergySolutions Arena, are the fans coming to see the defending NBA champions, who already laid a 105-89 pasting on the Jazz when they visited South Beach in December? Or are they coming to see the current face of the league, reigning MVP and generally conceded Best Player on the Planet, LeBron James? Either way, the Jazz know people want to be at this game: single-game tickets are priced higher for the Heat than for any other game on the schedule. (Scott Renshaw)
