Catherine Mayes, a new assistant professor of musicology, will present a Fridays w/Faculty lecture on the cultural associations and meanings
of Turkish and Hungarian-Gypsy styles in the late 18th century, with discussion of how those affected the ways composers used the styles. The talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session. The event is free.
