The Flying Balalaika Brothers

It’s not quite the Flying V guitar of Russian folk music, but the triangular-shaped, three-string balalaika really does look like it could take flight, especially the more-than-3-foot-wide contrabass. The Austin, Texas-based Flying Balalaika Brothers use this instrument, along with accordions and assorted other Eastern-European melody makers, to conjure an Old World sound—ranging from klezmer to traditional Russian tunes—for you and your comrades to do the troika and other Russian jigs to.
