Brooklyn-based artist and Utah native Erin Barra is back in town during the Sundance festivities. And as a kickstarter for the week, she’s hosting an inaugural Singer-Songwriters in the Round evening. If you’re unfamiliar, this event showcases several singer-songwriters telling stories and performing songs as they go around the circle, with the other artists perhaps playing along. This evening features a bevy of talented locals: the sultry-voiced Talia Keys (Marinade), blues rocker Samuel Smith (Samuel Smith Band), thought-provoking crooner Jay William Henderson (solo artist, formerly of Band of Annuals) and Amir Jackson (director of youth organization Nurture the Creative Mind). The neo-soul red-headed diva Barra, who mashes up sounds ranging from Daft Punk to Alicia Keys, will close with a full set.
