Kingsbury Hall: Under the Streetlamp

The hit Broadway show Jersey Boys—which tells the story of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons—won’t be making its first tour stop in Salt Lake City until summer 2013. But you can get a flavor of its charms thanks to four guys who have been members of Jersey Boys touring productions, and weren’t ready to give up on their love of vintage harmonies just because their contracts were up.

Under the Streetlamp is the Chicago-based vocal quartet featuring Michael Cunio, Shonn Wiley, Michael Ingersoll and Christopher Kale Jones, the aforementioned Jersey Boys veterans, whose repertoire includes doo-wop and Motown classics from the 1950s and 1960s. But their show is about more than just the songs that Baby Boomers can sing along to. Indeed, the show generally involves what they refer to as “The American Radio Songbook,” reaching back to the 1930s and into the 1980s to highlight tunes that have been embraced by multiple generations, all set to energetic choreography.
