Late Night Alumni

Jan. 12 marked the first time that world-renowned electro-house “studio band” Late Night Alumni took to a stage after eight years of music-making. Why Salt Lake City? Well, one half of the quartet—Finn Bjarnson and John Hancock—call it home. And surely it wasn’t hard to convince the others—Becky Jean Williams and Ryan Raddon, aka Kaskade—that the Masonic Temple would be an aural feast for recording a forthcoming live-performance DVD. And the band, backed by an ensemble of musicians, killed it, rolling out hits like their first, “Empty Streets,” and their two most recent, “It’s Not Happening” and “Main Street,” off of the surprisingly awesome, trance-inducing Haunted (2011). This show is one of only a handful of stateside gigs this winter—count your blessings that they’re semi-locals.
