Heber Valley Railroad North Pole Express

Ever since it was founded in 1899, the short-line Heber Valley Railroad has been serving the high-mountain community with steadfastness, regularity and, most recently, antique charm. Tourism took over as the main focus when the line officially became the Heber Creeper in the early 1970s, aimed specifically at re-creating a unique slice of the American Mountain West.

As fun as all that historical restoration and re-enactment is, the real whimsy begins when the old train gets magically transformed into the North Pole Express. Running multiple trips daily from the historic Heber City Depot, this wintry ride carries passengers deep into snowy valleys and through forested canyons as it navigates around Deer Creek Reservoir and along the Provo River. Kept comfy and warm in heated cars with whipped-cream-topped hot chocolate, journeyers get to bask in the reality of a story come true as they wait in anticipation for a special gift delivered directly by Old Saint Nick himself.
