Austin, Texas-based rock band The Sword derives much of their doom-metal sound from odd bedfellows like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, while their main lyrical influence is from Norse mythology, as heard on Apocryphon. The October release dropped on The Sword’s new label, Razor & Tie. “[Apocryphon is] just sort of a collection of thoughts and reflections,” guitarist Kyle Shutt told The Aquarian Weekly. “I think the fans, at least through a lyrical standpoint, will be able to find their own meanings within.” Gypsyhawk and American Shark are also on the bill.
