Tommy Castro & The Painkillers

Would you like a private lesson with Bay Area bluesman Tommy Castro? Well, fat chance of getting one while he’s in town, but luckily for guitar players, he’s posted a private sesh/interview with Guitar One Magazine on his website, TommyCastro.com. He talks about how he can’t play all of his guitar heroes’ licks—like Steve Cropper and Jimmy Nolen—drops references to hanging out at Santana’s house, and talks about why he loves Buddy Guy (because Buddy Guy doesn’t know what Buddy Guy is going to do until he does it). Castro plays a style of straight-up blues that also takes influence from the two guitar-playin’ Kings, as can be heard on his extensive discography and played along to—in little ditties—at this online lesson.
