Luna Lune CD Release

Tessa Barton began her music career busking at the Downtown Farmers Market with her sister, Sophie; their two-part harmonies wove together like only sisters’ voices can. The Bartons’ mother told the siblings that no matter what happened to them, they’d look upon the same moon and, as such, would always be connected. Sophie passed away in 2010, and Tessa has continued to make music for and inspired by her. Luna Lune, in fact, draws its name from that Mama Barton saying. Backed by three members, including two of her brothers—and even Sophie’s voice sampled from an old recording on “Boy Smile”—Tessa sings songs that bridge ground from folk to rock and are aided by Indian flutes and heavy percussive elements alluding to the Barton’s Cherokee Indian heritage. All revenue from this show and the album will help support Sophie’s Place, a nonprofit launched by the Bartons and the Forever Young Foundation to bring music therapy to childrens hospitals nationwide.
