Awna Teixeira CD Release

Since she’s taken a respite from Canadian folk outfit Po’ Girl, Awna Teixeira has seen big changes. The accordion/banjo player has relocated to Salt Lake City to be with her partner, says The Garage Acoustic Series host Duncan Phillips, and has released a critically acclaimed solo album, Where the Darkness Goes. In general, the 12 songs are sparse, with melodies arranged seemingly to highlight Teixeira’s stunning, wavering emotive voice (one that took a backseat to Allison Russell in Po’ Girl). Although the album was released in September, this show is the official release show and will prove Teixeira a welcome addition to the local music scene.
