Day of the Dead Celebration

The Day of the Dead is not just a holiday celebrated in Mexico. In fact, for nine years, the Utah Cultural Celebration Center has brought this traditionally Mexican holiday to the residents of Utah.

The Day of the Dead is about respect for those who have passed on. By creating intricate shrines at the graveyard, or even at home, in remembrance of deceased loved ones, the Mexican people believe that for two nights they are again joined in the company of the loved ones who, for the most part, rest in peace.

This folk art exhibit brings to life, so to speak, this celebratory holiday in the fashion of great food, music, and of course, a lavishly decorated shrine dedicated to relatives and friends who are no longer living.
