The musical stylings of Ben Schneider, the main creative force behind Los Angeles-based band Lord Huron, elevates the group’s first full-length album from merely folk music to transcendental realms full of rhythmic sequences in dream-like songs. The recently released album, Lonesome Dreams—a great follow-up to the 2010 EP, Mighty—offers a window into the personality of Schneider. With repetitive lyrics reminiscent of Buddhist mantras, out-of-time love stories and the use of traditional folk instruments meshed with sensational sounds from Eastern cultures, Schneider uses his music to present himself as a man displaced from the relative notion of time and reality.
