South African band Saron Gas rapidly went from playing nightclub gigs to being swooped up into the arms of Wind-up Records, which launched their career. The label couldn’t fight what Veruca Salt—in their ’90s modern-rock hit—called the “seether.” Saron Gas adopted the term after being discovered. Seether hit it big with “Broken,” featuring Evanescence’s Amy Lee, and since, they’ve continued to amass hot singles—notably “Rise Above This.” They’re hoping their 2010 release, Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray, still has legs, as they continue to tour in support of it. Sick Puppy and Kyng starts things off.
