Like many up-and-coming bands who step into the round room at A.V. Club headquarters
in Chicago to record a video for the A.V. Undercover series, Hospitality had to stretch out a bit to accomplish the task—and maybe even more than other bands, because Hospitality’s version of the 1974 Steely Dan classic “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number” was the first song that the band had ever covered (ever). They added their signature Brooklyn chug along with Amber Papini’s smoky singing. It’s a catchy sound as heard on their self-titled debut (Merge Records)—one of the best albums released in the first quarter of 2012. TEEN and Bright Whistles will also play.
