September 11, 2001 shocked United States citizens cross-country. For some Utahns, the horrifying event hit close to home. In order to keep the tragic events fresh in our minds, Utah Residents remember the 11th anniversary of 9/11 by serving others. The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, launched by 9/11 family members and support groups, established a charitable service day in the year of 2002. The day recognizes and honors 9/11 victims, survivors and others who rose up to serve their country. Individuals are encouraged to join in service projects taking place in their communities.
