Jason Isbell & the 400 Units

Alabama native Jason Isbell is certainly paving inroads into the American rock canon with his brand of country twang and gritty Americana, a sound he's honed after leaving Drive-By Truckers 10 years ago. Those songwriters and rockers he's joining in that journey are paid homage to in concert. At the sold-out State Room show this past January, Isbell infused Tom Petty's “Even the Losers,” The Meters' “Hey Pocky Way” and Neil Young's “Like a Hurricane” to round out a set focusing on Here We Rest. His latest album offers new sonic conquests courtesy of fiddle and accordion, all with Isbell's signature knack for creating a sense of place within candid storytelling.
