Dave Alvin & The Guilty Ones

At 10 a.m. every other Sunday, KRCL DJ Linda East Brady cranks up the Sunday Sagebrush Serenade with a Dave Alvin tune—a fine choice for waking up sleepy Sunday eyes or for jump-starting weekend-warrior activities. Dave Alvin has a song for every occasion. At 25 years old, the Americana musician began making rock & roll with The Blasters outside of Los Angeles. Later, his repertoire evolved toward punk with X, then on to rockabilly with The Knitters, and country when he ventured out solo. The solid backbone of it all, though, has been the blues, the genre that he and his brother Phil were weaned on; the likes of T Bone Burnett, Big Joe Turner and Lee Allen can still be heard after 30 years of music-making with his latest band, The Guilty Ones.
