When Passion Pit cancelled three shows this tour, including the Salt Lake City stop, so that frontman Michael Angelakos could continue to work on improving his mental health, the team at Salt Lake City Arts Council had to punt. And in about a week, they secured new supergroup Divine Fits—kudos to them. Featuring Britt Daniel (Spoon) Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs) and Sam Brown (New Bomb Turks), Divine Fits played their first gig in Austin, Texas, on July 31—a surprise set as Hot Skull—before their official first show Aug. 1. The 12-song set included 7-inch single “My Love Is Real” and tunes from forthcoming album A Thing Called the Divine Fits. Austra opens the show.
