Wasatch Roller Derby will host the Happy Valley Derby Darlins of Utah County in a “Summer Shovin’” bout on August 11 at the Derby Depot (1415 South 700 West). The matchup will pit one of Wasatch Roller Derby’s home teams, the Hot Wheelers, against Happy Valley’s Molly Morbids. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the bout begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and kids 5 and under get in free. Tickets are available at wasatchrollerderby.com.
The event will benefit Wasatch Community Gardens. Representatives will be on hand to spread awareness about the gardens, recruit volunteers and collect donations. Wasatch Community Gardens is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that serves residents along the Wasatch Front. They are committed to building community and providing opportunities to learn and grow through gardening. They do so by offering a spectrum of programs, workshops and events covering everything from starting a community garden to starting your own seeds indoors. As interest in urban agriculture grows, they strive to offer a vibrant and evolving network of land, expertise and education. Their mission is to empower people of all ages and incomes to grow and eat healthy, organic, local food.
