David Hinds (lead vox, rhythm guitar) and Selwyn Brown (vocals, keys) have long been political activists, yet the U.K.-based reggae legends’ fight goes beyond song. 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the duo filing a $1 million class-action lawsuit against New York City’s Taxi & Limousine Commission, charging that cabbies refused to pick up blacks and, especially, Rastafarians. Over these past two decades, Steel Pulse has continued their commitment to fighting injustice, educating the masses and promoting positive messages through spiritually uplifting music, as will be heard on their forthcoming late-2012 album and at this fairly rare live appearance.
