With the sound of a folk orchestra reverberating off of nylon siding and cement bricks, and with Justin Ringle’s clear, crisp voice on top of it all, Horse Feathers put on one of my favorite shows at Kilby Court ever. The acoustics seemed perfect that night. The 2012 release Cynic’s New Year gives even more texture and heft to their sound with horns, woodwinds and driven drums alongside the ever-present violin, cello, banjo and acoustic guitar. And, of course, Ringle’s knack for storytelling has only gotten better.
