Keller Williams

Keller Williams’ slap- and finger-style guitar work—think Ani DiFranco or Leo Kottke—along with his sometimes-goofy lyrics, are interesting enough in concert, but that’s scarcely all the mad scientist brings to the stage. He plays an arsenal of instruments—bass, drums, percussive and electronic doohickeys and so on—captured with loop pedals to layer his songs all by his lonesome. Over 20 years, he has known no creative bounds, making music from reggae and dance to rock and bluegrass. In 2010, he recorded Thief with the Keels, and it reached number No. 1 on Billboard’s bluegrass chart. And in 2012, he released another bluegrass zinger, Pick, recorded with The Travelin’ McCourys—Rob and Ronnie, sons of legend Del McCoury. This concert benefits and raises awareness for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, a nonprofit that works to protect Utah’s remaining 9.2 million acres of red rock wilderness.
