Sure, a lot of artists say Salt Lake City is their favorite stop, but when 31-year-old singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile says it, you can’t help but think it’s sincere. And she plays here a lot—from the three-night The State Room stint two years ago to her near-annual Red Butte shows. Carlile’s bluesy croon can’t be beat, but what seals the deal to make this a must-see performance time and time again is her charm, including jokes or inviting adorable twin girls onstage. I never thought I’d write the “C” word in print, but Carlile is just so damned cute. You, Me & Apollo opens the show.
